Celebrating Team India's Strength
By Vivek Prabhakar Singh
New Delhi [India], October 31: Arun Dhumal, the Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has expressed admiration for the depth of talent within Team India, particularly spotlighting the promising 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He also commended cricket legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for their exceptional skills, dedication, and hard work.
Dhumal is confident that the duo, affectionately known as 'Ro-Ko', will continue to shine in the 50-over format. He praised Rohit Sharma's outstanding performance in the recent ODI series against Australia, where he was named Player of the Series.
After a shaky start in the first two ODIs, which India lost, Rohit showcased his prowess by scoring an impressive unbeaten 121 runs in the third ODI, leading the team to successfully chase down 237 runs. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli made a strong comeback with a solid 74 runs, demonstrating their enduring capabilities.
These performances signal that both players are gearing up for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
“We have been discussing the bench strength of the Indian team for quite some time. Look at Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old prodigy, who is on the verge of joining the team. And then we have stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who many believe are nearing the end of their careers, but they are here to stay. Rohit’s display of skill in this ODI series, earning him the Player of the Match and Player of the Series titles, reflects their commitment and hard work. Team India is determined to give their best, which is the essence of a true sportsman. I wish them both the best; they have dedicated their lives to Indian cricket,” Dhumal stated.
The series against Australia highlighted Rohit’s resilience and ability to perform under pressure. He transitioned from a disappointing start in Perth to scoring a crucial 73 runs in Adelaide, and finally, a spectacular 121* in Sydney, proving he is focused on the upcoming World Cup and is committed to achieving his fitness and cricketing objectives.
Following his successful series against Australia, Rohit Sharma made history by becoming the No. 1-ranked player in the ICC Men’s ODI Batter Rankings for the first time. His remarkable century in the final ODI propelled him to the top, leading India to a convincing nine-wicket victory.
Rohit surpassed Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran and his teammate Shubman Gill to claim the top spot in ODI batting for the first time, having consistently remained within the top 10 for most of the past decade.
